New UGC Rules Allow State Colleges to Seek "Deemed University" Status

In a significant policy shift, the UGC has amended regulations to allow autonomous and constituent colleges of state universities to apply for "Deemed-to-be University" status directly. This allows colleges more academic freedom and the power to award their own degrees, provided they have state government approval.
